‘American Array’

There’s still time to check out American Array at Honolulu Museum of Art — an eclectic mix from the museum’s postwar and contemporary American art archives — though there’s no telling what you’ll get. Works have been shuffling in and out of the gallery since October, but gems range from Victoria and the Cat by Alice Neel (pictured) to Bedroom Painting No. 42 by Tom Wesselmann.

The exhibit ends its run Jan. 15.

‘A LIFE IN ART’

Artist and teacher George Woollard stops by for lunch at Hawaii State Art Museum from noon to 1 p.m. Dec. 29, promising plenty of stories and insights into his career, world travels and inspirations.

“It is in the making of things that the art takes place,” he states.

Woollard holds a BFA and an MFA from University of Hawaii at Manoa, where he studied painting and printmaking. You can also spy his work in HiSAM’s galleries (and at First Hawaiian Center downtown) in the Image & Imagination exhibit.

Woollard’s appearance is part of HiSAM’s Art Lunch series, which features lectures by new artists each month.
