Creating harmony within the body-mind connection is an important aspect of overall health, to hear Aloha Elixir founder Keoki Tavares tell it. He follows the tradition of Native Hawaiian la’au lapa’au, which focuses on utilizing botanicals to promote natural healing for emotional and physical ailments, and adds a modern twist to his homemade apothecary brand.

Healing is a concept that everyone has a different approach to. Some might be more comfortable with traditional medical methods. Others might prefer to opt for something unique like investing in a Best quality selenite lamp or other healing crystals to connect to higher realms and seek peace. A few may also find that being connected with nature in the present moment and eliminating negative energy with the help of shamanism or similar spiritual practices can be a better way to recreate themselves (learn more about shamanism on blogs from LightSong or similar sources).

Aloha Elixir offers healing through the use of soy candles, salts, sprays, and smudging products made with essences of various quartz crystals, semi-precious stones, and sacred waters. Similar to how different crystals are used for different healing purposes; some bring about deeper healing, while some work with specific chakras or aspects of our life (visit websites like https://thecrystalclub.com.au if you would like to gain more knowledge on crystals), these candles too work on the energies and help with healing.

For Tavares, that instinct to heal came naturally. After quitting a full-time job, he graduated from massage school and found that intuitive information would come through during his massage sessions. Eventually, he focused all of his efforts on client readings. As an intuitive consultant, Tavares uses those readings to guide clients through whatever life throws their way.

“When I started to do intuitive readings, I noticed that a lot of my customers needed help setting intentions or manifesting different outcomes,” he says. “My clients had needs, and I formulated candles with that in mind.”

Each candle – all made by Tavares – is powered by 12 hours of positive prayers and mantras, as well as the sounds and vibrations of crystal singing bowls. According to Tavares, the soy and water that make up each candle remembers sound vibrations. Different affirmations are paired with each candle based on its intention: The Harmonious Home Elixir promotes a positive environment with its lavender rosemary fragrance, while the Fertility Elixir blends fresh water pearl and red currant fragrance with the intent of giving and sustaining life.

“I have always been interested in growing and working with herbs and Native Hawaiian plants in particular. I’d make candles for myself as a hobby and began making the Road Opener for friends and family who sought change and new opportunities,” Tavares states.

“As you light the candle, you’re releasing that positive vibration,” he continues. “Everything positive, everything in the light.”

Gemstones are a large part of what sets Aloha Elixir apart from other apothecary lines. They are tucked away in the candles, sprays and salves, and vary within each product to fit the customer’s needs. With help from experts at Ward Village shop Sedona Hawaii, Tavares learned all he could about the various gemstones and their healing or facilitative properties.

“Now I kind of just intuitively pick them out,” he adds.

For the holiday season, Tavares is introducing a gratitude candle, just in time for Thanksgiving. For the New Year, Tavares recommends sprays to clear out negative energy.

“If you’re having a bad day or you work in a negative environment, you can spray yourself or your desk or your home,” he says. “It works like smudging sage, but without the smoke.”
