Oodles of tempting menu items make deciding difficult at Livestock Tavern. But keep one thing in mind: There is no wrong decision. To keep things interesting, the still relatively new restaurant changes its menu seasonally. Right now, its Winter Citrus & Radish Salad is a bright and colorful dish with an equally palate-pleasing effect. Arugula brings a pepperiness, balanced with slightly sweet additions of candied walnuts and a cranberry vinaigrette. And slices of jicama ensure there’s a nice crunch with every bite. Looking to transport yourself further into Livestock Tavern’s seasonal festiveness? Be sure to order its Winter Sweet Tea — this also changes with each menu, but right now, it features gingerbread spices that will make you forget Christmas has already passed.

KUROMARU TONKOTSU SHIBORI
RAMEN MANICHI
1430 Kona St. Honolulu
Phone number (808) 943-1430

Ramen shops seem to pop in and out all the time. Ramen Manichi is not one of those places. It’s an establishment with ramen so delicious that you’ll go back week after week (and finish all the broth, too). Manichi’s Kuromaru Tonkotsu Shibori is the right amount of savory with none of the added saltiness that leaves your lips puckering for water. Pair that with the Gyoza with Spicy Miso, and you’re set.
