We were a little sad when Ninja Sushi at Ward Village shut its doors a couple months ago. But, last month, it was reborn as Ginza Sushi — which involves the same owners. The interior has been completely revamped, and is now a chic-yet-cozy dine-in eatery. But fans of Ninja will be glad that the owners still retained some of the old recipes, like their version of a Spicy Ahi Donburi. It’s got all the standard makings of the dish, but this one is like the everyeater’s spicy ahi dish: If you can’t handle too much heat, but like your pulverized ahi bathed in that creamy sauce, then this one’s for you. Plus, that crucial fish:rice ratio always is on point.

OK, so here’s the thing about the Roasted Garlic Chicken pizza: It’s not on the menu. It used to be, but then it disappeared one day for no apparent reason. Still, here’s a secret from us: If you ask, the Ala Moana CPK will almost always make it for you, no problem. The waiter even will recommend it as an off-the-menu special. (We’ve had mixed luck at other CPK branches.) It’s pretty much the best pizza there is. Otherwise, you know the drill: Avoid lines by going early, and sign up for the Pizza Dough Rewards card for occasional freebies.
