I begin every single weekday morning the same way: I grab a cup of coffee from our company’s main office. It’s something that I look forward to each day. More than that, actually. My day doesn’t really start until I do this. I’m not much of a morning person, and I am pretty miserable until I get those first few sips of coffee.

So when I had the chance to visit Kona Coffee Purveyors — where our company gets its coffee beans — it was like some sort of pilgrimage.

I got to be in a whole warehouse full of delicious-smelling coffee beans as they roasted. Although I love coffee more than most other things in life, I knew very little about it. But Kona Coffee Purveyors treated me to a coffee tasting and told me all about what goes into influencing a cup of coffee. Then, they gave me some tips on how to improve my home brew, which we share with you on page 10.

If coffee isn’t your thing, there’s always alcohol. Check out guest contributor Kait Hanson’s latest: This time she visits BLT Steak in Waikiki and gives us the lowdown on three of its cocktails.

Also in this issue, our staff visits AGU Ramen and shares their thoughts.

Speaking of ramen, I know that social media can be a little over-saturated with food photos. But I don’t care — I love scrolling Instagram and seeing food pics. Sharing what you ate for lunch is totally OK, but there are some things you should NOT be sharing on your social media — and Paige Takeya gives you some guidelines.
