Letter From The Editor

There is some validity to that accusation — compared to other cities, we don’t get as many visiting bands because we’re a bit out of the way.

But local DIY collective Failed Orbit Records feels that anyone who says there is no good music here simply just isn’t paying enough attention.

That’s why Failed Orbit exists — to showcase the work that the many amazing local bands are putting out. They do this through hosting shows, producing compilation albums, and doing whatever they can to help support artists.

In recent months, I feel like every show I’ve seen promoted had the Failed Orbit stamp on it, so last week, I met with the musicians behind the collective to discuss their work. See the story here.

Also in this issue, you can check out what some other artists of a different kind are up to at Manoa Valley Theatre, where Equus debuted this week. We chatted with director Alexander Munro about his vision and approach to the play.
