Honolulu Museum of Art turned this popular annual event into a monthly one, and invites participants to quietly contemplate selected works. It begins at 10 a.m. with a map from the front desk that has four different pieces of art marked. Then, grab a stool, find the art and sit in front of each one for 10 minutes. At 11, meet up with other participants at the Coffee Bar for a free iced tea, and discuss what you gleaned. Slow Art Day is free with museum admission, which costs $10. AT THE REPUBLIK

Electronica duo Pegboard Nerds bring their danceable beats to The Republik. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the concert is set to start at 10. Tickets cost $20-$30. jointherepublik.com

THE PLAY FESTIVAL 2016
AT KUMU KAHUA THEATRE

In conjunction with Kumu Kahua Theatre’s Dark Night Series, PlayBuilders of Hawaii Theatre Company presents The Play Festival 2016, which invites attendees to discover new local plays and playwrights over the course of three days. Advanced tickets cost $5 (with a nominal service fee online) and go on sale at the door 45 minutes prior to show time. The Play Festival youth division takes place from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, followed by the adult division from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. playfestival.org

AT L&L BBQ (KEEAUMOKU LOCATION)

Everyone wins when L&L BBQ celebrates its 40th anniversary with the return of the 40-cent plate lunch to its Keeaumoku Street location in Walmart from 10 a.m. to noon. The first 100 people in line who donate five canned goods or more will get a free limited-edition T-shirt, for example. The first 10 customers also get a month’s supply of Pepsi. Plate lunch options include Kalua Pork with Cabbage, Chicken Katsu and Hamburger Steak, and fountain drinks may be purchased for another 10 cents. Catch this free exhibit from local photographer and Punahou School alumnus Clark Little as he presents Brock Swell from April 7 to 21. Look forward to those stunning images of the ocean Little has become synonymous with, as well as snapshots of the recent Eddie.
