Another year means another round of fresh murals popping up all over Kakaako when POW! WOW! Hawaii returns for its sixth go-round. A week of art, music and fun awaits, andMetrohas picked some highlights for your upcoming week.

‘POW! WOW! EXPLORING THE NEW CONTEMPORARY ART MOVEMENT’

International artists converge on Honolulu Museum of Art School fromFeb. 7 to 15for the third annual POW! WOW! Exploring the New Contemporary Art Movement. Curator Andrew Hosner of Thinkspace Gallery has selected 16-by-20-inch canvases from dozens of artists, including bumblebeelovesyou, Hueman, Kamea Hadar, Mario Belem and Sean Newport. Aaron Li-Hill also will provide a larger installation. Opening reception isSunday(Feb. 7) from6 to 10 p.m.

ESTEVAN ORIOL

Photographer Estevan Oriol will be the man of the moment at POW! WOW! Hawaii — he’s giving a 1-2-1 talk with Jeff Staples from6 to 7 p.m.Feb. 12at Kakaako Agora, then showing off an RVCA-sponsored exhibition of some of his recent work in Hawaii that same night (at the same venue) from7 to 10 p.m.The California-based photographer is known for his portrait work — you can get a taste at estevanoriol. com.

‘STRANDED IN PARADISE’ FINALE CONCERT

Finishing the week strong is a star-studded musical lineup featuring The Green, DJ Babu and Rakaa Iriscience of Dilated Peoples, Eli Mac and Likkle Mai, Taimane Gardner, Cipha Sounds and students from this year’s POW! WOW! School of Music class. Since the show takes place at Makers and Tasters at Old Fishermans Wharf, you can expect plenty of dining options, as well. The show runs from4 to 10 p.m.Feb. 13, and tickets cost $30 at the door. (And yes, there is an afterparty, of course, running from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m.at Addiction.)
