For more than 30 years, Peter Read Miller has captured athletes and the sports world through his lens. He currently is a staff photographer for Sports Illustrated, and his portraits of athletes have included Magic Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal and Kathy Ireland. From 7 to 9 p.m., Miller shows images from his career, discusses techniques and shares tips in a free public talk. It may not be Angus Young in the flesh, but you’ll never be able to tell when AC/DC tribute band Back in Black makes a stop in Honolulu. The night will presumably include songs like It’s a Long Way To the Top, Thunderstruck and, of course, Back in Black. Special guest Kings of Spade also performs. Nightscapes from Japanese artists Saito Kiyoshi and Kawase Hasui are on display starting today through Jan. 18. Though they were very different artists, both often gravitated toward nighttime scenes.
